The Children's Museum's main attraction is the My Town permanent exhibit. Designed as a two-story 'cityscape', My Town is an engaging child-sized city where children can explore and role-play in any of the eleven different areas of the city: the Bank, Grocery Store, Victorian House, Grandma's Attic, TV Station, Animal Hospital, Music Shop, Construction Site, Restaurant, Newsstand, and Post Box.

The Career Center features seven computer stations with programs and resource materials on the many careers available to students and children can engage in a number of learning experiences ranging from interactive talking books to science based programs. Children are encouraged to create, experiment, and explore art, science, and the humanities in a fascinating, multi-sensory environment. As the sign says, "Please touch, smell, listen, and explore."
The Career Center is funded by and in collaboration with the School to Career Initiave, as well as a generous grant from the Lowe Foundation of Houston.

The Beach Babies toddler area is a permanent exhibit area sure to please the fussiest of visitors. This bright, cheerful aquatic themed room provides a safe, fun, and engaging environment for the littlest guests (under 3's) and their favorite caregivers.
Beach Babies is funded through a grant from the Helen Greathouse Charitable Trust.

Get an up-close glimpse into the undersea world featured in the multi-aquarium aquatic display entitled "West Texas Keys". The huge 200-gallon saltwater aquarium features stunningly colorful exotic fish and underwater creatures from around the world in a coral reef environment. The 55-gallon fresh water aquarium sparkles with a fun variety of unusual fish for children to watch and enjoy. The 35-gallon saltwater aquarium is home to Leo, the beautiful lion fish!

Created by artist and musician Edward Weiss from Michigan, this interactive sculpture is a larger-than-life artwork of colors, shapes, and sounds designed for hands-on fun. The many brightly-colored wooden touch pads are touch sensitive and are electronically wired to emit sound when touched. Each touch pad produces a different tone and they can be played individually or grouped to create simple compositions. The Sound Wall sculpture is large enough to be played by several people at once!
