Con Todo Mi Alma - Folklore in Fiber by Angelica Raquel

San Antonio artist Angelica Raquel channels a familial tradition of storytelling in this immersive exhibition of borderland folklore.

Working in a variety of mediums, from needle felting, to tufting, to painting, Angelica Raquel brings these stories to life; stories first passed down to her from her late grandfather. As viewers move through the tales, each vividly realized in life-size fiber sculptures, tapestries, and watercolors, the artist gradually assumes the mantle of storyteller from her ancestors, contributing her own auto-biographical fables drawn from the contemporary moment.

Angelica Raquel is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in San Antonio, Texas. She earned her MFA from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a BFA from Texas State University. Angelica was born and raised in the border city of Laredo, Texas, where much of her passion for folklore and storytelling was kindled.
