The Floating World of Daryl Howard: Woodblock Prints by a Texas Master

Daryl Howard is an Austin, Texas practitioner of traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e printmaking. Throughout the 1970's, Howard lived and taught art in Tokyo, Japan. During this time she was introduced to a private collection of 18th and 19th century Ukiyo-e woodcuts, which inspired her to embark on an apprenticeship with Master Printmaker Hodaka Yoshida.

Returning to graduate school in 1976 at the University of Texas at Austin, Howard began her experience with a second medium, mixed media collage. Her 2023 exhibition will feature Howard's masterfully printed work, a series of Texas
nature scenes, antique Japanese prints, as well as educational elements related to the processes of carving, printing, and
embossing.
